The Krishnasamy College of Education for Women, Puducherry established Eco-club on 24/02/2020.The National Green Corps (NGC) Eco-Club, often established in colleges, is part of the National Green Corps program initiated by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change in India. The primary goal of NGC Eco-Clubs is to engage college students in environmental conservation and sustainable development. The functions of College NGC Eco-Clubs typically align with broader environmental objectives and educational goals. Here are some key functions:

Role and Responsibilities of the Club:

- Environmental Education and Awareness:Conducting awareness campaigns, seminars, and workshops to educate college students and the community about environmental issues, conservation practices, and sustainable development.
- Tree Plantation and Greening Initiatives:Organizing and participating in tree-planting drives to contribute to reforestation efforts, improve green cover, and combat climate change.
- Energy Conservation:Initiating campaigns and activities to promote energy-efficient practices, energy conservation, and the use of renewable energy sources.
- Biodiversity Conservation Projects:Undertaking projects that focus on protecting and preserving local biodiversity, including habitat restoration and wildlife conservation.
- Community Clean-up Drives:Organizing and participating in clean-up campaigns to address litter and pollution in college campuses and nearby localities.
- Sustainable Practices Advocacy:Advocating for and adopting sustainable practices within the college, such as reducing single-use plastics, promoting eco-friendly products, and supporting sustainable businesses.
- Green Events and Competitions:Planning and organizing eco-friendly events, competitions, and challenges to engage students and foster a sense of environmental responsibility and creativity.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: The college Collaborating with DSTE, Puducherryto share resources, knowledge, and ideas for more significant environmental impact.
